WOMEN RIGHTS
To assert the women rights PCSW&HR launched various projects for the development, empowerment of women as per detail given below
“Economic Empowerment of Women through vocational Routine life skill and cultivation training at AJ&K Pakistan Project”
Presently Pakistan Council for Social Welfare & Human Rights is working for the Economic Empowerment of those women affected due to 2005 earthquake at various parts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir with the collaboration of OBOS “The One Body One Spirit Movement” Korea. The main purpose of this project is to economically empower the women through vocational routine life skill and Cultivation training. This project was launched in January 2008 and till June 2010, 990 women have been completed their vocational, routine life skills and cultivation training in 15 vocational training centres. From July 2010 PCSW&HR has established 15 more vocational training centres at various localities of Poonch District AJ&K, where training on tailoring, cutting, sewing, hand & machine embroidery, hand knitting, fabric painting, toy & flower making is being imparted to 450 women. Routine life skill training covers the Training on First Aid, health education including reproductive health, early childcare, and role of women in strengthen of democracy, religious tolerance, peace, minor ailments & its treatment etc. First Aid Kits are also being provided to women after the completion of First Aid Training. As per methodology of this project theoretical and practical training on farming/cultivation to learners also impart with the collaboration of “Dhank Rural Development Organization” Rawalakot who is dealing in the field of agriculture with the collaboration of Agriculture University Rawalakot. The purpose of that training is to train the women for proper utilization of their land for farming/cultivation. During the training seeds and other relevant material uses for the cultivation process is also being provided by the PCSW&HR.
Establishment of Literacy and Skill Training Centres for Women
Pakistan Council for Social Welfare & Human Rights also established 23 literacy and skill training centres for women at various localities of Tehsil Daska with the collaboration of Literacy Department Govt. of Punjab. The purpose of these literacy and skill training centres was to provide basic education to those women never attend school along with skills training (above 16 years) 685 men & women were provided basic education and also imparted skill training like sewing and cutting of clothes, Poultry etc.
Establishment of 50 Literacy Schools for Women
PCSW&HR also established 50 literacy Centres for women (15 – 40 years) with the collaboration of National Commission for Human Development Govt. of Pakistan and through these 50 literacy centers provide basic education and life skills to 1250 women
Health Education for Women
Pakistan Council for Social Welfare & Human Rights also accomplished project “Health Education for Women” with the collaboration of Green star Social Marketing – Pakistan. During this project:
- 6089 women were informed about reproductive health through home visits by field staff of PCSWHR.
- 320 Orientation Meetings for women were arranged and during these meeting 3613 women were orientated regarding women & reproductive health, child health, and importance of Family Planning.
- 167 Orientation Meeting with men were arranged and during these meeting 1683 men were orientated regarding reproductive health including Aids, Hepatitis, Family Planning etc.
- 4 Health/FP camps were arranged at different Clinics and during these camps 284 women were provided health and FP services.
- 1119 women were also imparted information about importance of small family norm and Access to Family Planning Methods/Clinics
Women’s Participation in Local Bodies Election
Pakistan Council for Social Welfare & Human Rights also completed project “women’s Participation in Local Body Election” with the collaboration of Aurat Foundation – Pakistan in 2005.
The main purposes of that project were:
• To provide awareness to the women through orientation sessions/meetings regarding importance of women’s participation in Election and importance of their vote.
• - To assist and guide the female Candidate during the filing of nomination papers for local bodies election 2005
• - To orientate the female candidates contesting during local bodies election 2005 regarding principles of effective Election campaign
• - PCSWHR arranged 3 days camp to guide the female candidates regarding filling and submitting of their nomination papers at Tehsil Daska and 29 female candidates were guided during the filing of their nominations papers
• - 30 Union Council Level Awareness Meetings, orientations sessions for Women Regarding Importance of Women Vote in Local Bodies Election 2005 were arranged and 1642 women were orientated regarding importance of women vote and their role to elect the sincere candidates during local bodies election.
• - 3 Orientation Sessions/Workshops for Female Councilors (Candidates) contesting in Local Bodies Election 2005 and their poling agents were arranged and 300 female candidates and poling agents were oriented regarding effective election campaign and role & responsibilities of poling agents during poling day.
